Yang2020 Path To Presidency
Sam Vallely 2019 (12/29) 2 Windows, Linux Download (Steam) N/A Indie Commercial N/A N/A N/A Parsec / Steam Remote Archive.org backup N/A 1v1 2.5D fighter based on the real life politician Andrew Yang and his failed presidencial run. No online modes. Haven’t played it
Yatagarasu ヤタガラス PDW:HOTAPEN 2008 (12/28) 2 Windows CD N/A Doujin Commercial N/A Yatagarasu: Enter the Eastward N/A Parsec / Steam Remote Archive.org backup N/A First entry. 1v1 2D fighter heavily inspired in Street Fighter III. Updates were released on physical CD up until 4.3 but, as far as I know, the devs never considered those releases “demos” or separated entries. Shitty online (read “Enter the Eastward” entry)
Yatagarasu: Attack on Cataclysm ヤタガラス Attack on Cataclysm PDW:HOTAPEN 2012 (12/29) 2 Windows CD Steam, Arcade (NESiCAxLive) Doujin Commercial Jconfig (Arcade) Yatagarasu: Enter the Eastward 4.3 Parsec / Steam Remote Online Mizuumi Second entry. The last version released on CD (known originally as “Yatagarasu 4”) that was later released on Steam and Arcades. NESiCA version runs fine via Jconfig (it’s exactly the same as the Steam port). Still shitty online. I have amazing memories with this version, I still think is really cool
Yatagarasu: Enter the Eastward ヤタガラス Enter the Eastward PDW:HOTAPEN 2024 (02/19) 2 Windows Download (Steam) Arcade (NESiCAxLive) Doujin Commercial N/A N/A V1.03 Parsec / Steam Remote Online Mizuumi Third and final entry, released 12 years later. Two new characters. Still the same shitty netcode that is IP based and has issues with blocked ports. Trust me, use Parsec or Steam Remote. Has a small offline scene in Japan and has been ignored worldwide (no rollback in 2024, urgh). Doesn’t work on Jconfig?
Yè Míngzhū 夜明珠 Waixing 1996 (??/??) 2 Nintendo Entertainment System Cartridge N/A Indie Commercial Mesen N/A N/A Probably Parsec? N/A N/A Also known as “Night Pearl”. 1v1 2D fighter with a mix of wuxia and fantasy elements. Bootleg Famicom cartridge that seems to be an original game and not a hack. It’s -not- on Fightcade
Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga イースvs.空の軌跡 オルタナティブ・サーガ (Ys vs. Sora no Kiseki Alternative Saga) Nihon Falcom 2010 (07/29) 4 PlayStation Portable UMD Steam, Switch, PS4, PS5 Retail Commercial PPSSPP (PSP), Yuzu/Ryujinx (Switch) N/A N/A PPSSPP (PSP), original game netcode (modern ports) Online Steam guides A mix of 4 players 3D fighter with platform elements and ARPG combat that is also a crossover of these two franchises. PSP port has a fantranslation. Was ported to modern platforms, including Steam, with 60FPS and rollback netcode that works fine. Save file for the Steam port available on the Steam Guides
Yū Yū Hakusho (3DO) 幽☆遊☆白書 TOSE / Hudson Soft 1994 (12/23) 2 3DO CD N/A Retail Commercial Phoenix N/A N/A Parsec N/A GameFAQs 1v1 2D fighter based on the anime. Sprites are hand-drawn sprites. Game is stiff, slow and has no combos… yet it’s basically the base for all TOSE fighting games like “Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon S” on the same platform or “Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22”, so it’s an interesting piece of history
Yū Yū Hakusho (Game Boy) 幽☆遊☆白書 Tomy 1993 (08/23) 2 Game Boy Cartridge N/A Retail Commercial BGB N/A N/A Parsec for BGB (use two instances of the emulator opened) N/A N/A 1v1 2D fighter with a mix of platform fighter (in fact it seems this is a pioneer of the genre, even before “The Outfoxies”). Has two players mode but seems that doesn’t have Super Game Boy support?
Yū Yū Hakusho 2: Kakutō no Sho 幽☆遊☆白書2: 格闘の章 TOSE / Namco 1994 (06/10) 2 Super Nintendo Cartridge (16Mbit) N/A Retail Commercial Ares N/A N/A Fightcade N/A GameFAQs 1v1 2D fighter, more in the traditional style. It’s definitely not as good as the sequel, let’s say that (the soundtrack is cool though). It’s on Fightcade
Yū Yū Hakusho Bakutō Ankoku Bujutsu Kai 幽☆遊☆白書 爆闘暗黒武術会 TOSE / Bandai 1993 (10/22) 2 Nintendo Entertainment System Cartridge N/A Retail Commercial Mesen N/A N/A Parsec N/A N/A 1v1 2D fighter for the Famicom that uses the DATACH card system add-on (the Bandai answer to the Barcode Battler). Super basic gameplay. Barely playable without the cards. The Mesen emulator supports DATACH cards, good luck with that. It’s NOT on Fightcade. Fun fact: is SUPER EXPENSIVE now
Yū Yū Hakusho Dai-Yon-Dan: Makai Tōitsu Hen 幽☆遊☆白書 第4弾 魔界統一編 Tomy 1994 (12/09) 2 Game Boy Cartridge N/A Retail Commercial Ares N/A N/A Parsec (use SameBoy on Super Game Boy mode for local two players support) N/A GameFAQs 1v1 2D fighter. Compared to the OG GB game this is a 100% traditional fighting game that, if you ask me, it’s fine but feels much more generic and less interesting. This one has SGB support with 2 players mode and colors
Yū Yū Hakusho Final: Makai Saikyō Retsuden 幽☆遊☆白書 FINAL 魔界最強列伝 TOSE / Namco 1995 (03/24) 2 Super Nintendo Cartridge (24Mbit) N/A Retail Commercial Ares N/A N/A Fightcade N/A GameFAQs Technically the sequel of “Yū Yū Hakusho 2: Kakutō no Sho” by the same team but it was made from scratch and plays totally different. Actually a very interesting game that I haven't yet dedicated the time it deserves… I wish it has less slowdown though. It’s on Fightcade
Yū Yū Hakusho Forever 幽☆遊☆白書 FOREVER Dimps / Matrix Software / Banpresto 2005 (05/19) 2 PlayStation 2 DVD N/A Retail Commercial PCSX2 N/A N/A Parsec N/A YouTube guide (in chinese/japanese) 1v1 3D fighter that is more close to arena fighter gameplay (kinda…). It’s okayish. Save file with all characters unlocked available at GameFAQs (but no guide)
Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament
Digital Fiction 2004 (09/28) 2 PlayStation 2 DVD N/A Retail Commercial PCSX2 N/A N/A Parsec Archive.org backup GameFAQs 1v1 3D fighter developed in the US exclusively for the western market. Reception of the game was very polarized, for me it’s a funny shitty game. Save file with everything unlocked available at GameFAQs, also the GameFAQs guide is pretty decent, even with combos
Yū Yū Hakusho: Makyō Tōitsusen 幽☆遊☆白書 魔強統一戦 Treasure 1994 (09/30) 4 Sega Genesis Cartridge (16Mbit) Mega Drive Mini 2 Retail Commercial BlastEm N/A N/A Fightcade N/A GameFAQs 4 players 2D fighter. Has two-plane style of gameplay like “Fatal Fury”. One of the most unique and beloved fighting games on Genesis that has a big legacy. Super broken but super fun. Was released in Brazil as “YuYu Hakusho: Sunset Fighters”. It’s on Fightcade. Highly recommended
Yūgekitai Bangai-hen: Jigoku no Dopplegänger 遊撃隊番外変: 地獄のドッペルゲンガー TKO Soft 1998 (??/??) 2 PC-98 Floppy Disk N/A Doujin Commercial Neko Project II Shōwa Yūgeki-den N/A Parsec Online N/A Second entry?. Release with a different story that feels more like an spin-off than an update. Next entry is “Yūgekitai Bangai-hen: Rekkyō Kara no Raihō-sha”
Yūgekitai Bangai-hen: Rekkyō Kara no Raihō-sha 遊撃隊番外篇 列強からの来訪者 TKO Soft 1998 (??/??) 2 PC-98 Floppy Disk N/A Doujin Commercial Neko Project II Shōwa Yūgeki-den N/A Parsec Online N/A Third entry. Update that added an extra character and it’s a collaboration with the game “Wildflowers”, also on PC98. All three games are available for download at the (supposedly) official doujin group website. Next entry is “Shōwa Yūgeki-den”
Yūgekitai Kakuto-hen 1: Saikyō-shin Fukkatsu no Maki 遊撃隊格斗編 1: 最強神復活之巻 TKO Soft 1998 (??/??) 2 PC-98 Floppy Disk N/A Doujin Commercial Neko Project II Shōwa Yūgeki-den N/A Parsec Online N/A I THINK it’s the first entry but it could also be a prequel?. 1v1 2D fighter based on the visual novel “Yūgekitai” with gameplay in the style of “Karate Champ” but the spritework is really, really cool. This is the only one that has an english fantranslation. Next entry is “Yūgekitai Bangai-hen: Jigoku no Dopplegänger”
